It has been a long time since we were in touch with you and we would like
to give you an understanding of what BIPSA has been doing and has
committed to focus on this year. The leadership team spent a lot of time
deliberating on ways to reduce current stakeholder engagement constraints
and to determine the best possible ways to effectively propel the association into the future.
For BIPSA to function more effectively in 2007, we have decided to realign our
strategic objectives and focus on the following key issues affecting Black Insurance Professionals.
- Developing and facilitating the technical competence of Black Insurance Professionals
- Creating an Indexed Database on the skills pool of Black Insurance Professionals
- Promoting transformation and the ideals of BBBEE in the Insurance Industry
BIPSA will achieve the above objectives through partner sponsored projects and programmes, as well as forums and workshops.
The forums have been very successful and we will continue with these in 2007.
The purpose of the forums and programmes is to engage BIPSA members and the
insurance industry, to keep them closely aligned to key issues and challenges
of black insurance professionals. The topics will change according to relevance.
We will also be introducing workshops to facilitate member involvement and
the opportunity to discuss and debate pertinent BIPSA and industry issues.
The first workshop (the date of which will be decided on shortly), will focus on
BIPSA and the way forward. At this workshop, we will elaborate on the above
stated focus and the rationale behind it; we will discuss the current stakeholder
engagement constraints faced by the association and obtain member feedback
on ways to overcome and deal with these constraints; and we will discuss the BIPSA leadership going forward.
We also appreciate that communication with all stakeholders is fundamental and for that reason,
are exploring innovative ways to achieve this goal. .This will include the use of technology such
as the website and electronic mail newsletters. We will be updating the BIPSA website and we will
ensure that going forward, the website is a reliable and effective platform to share information and
to communicate with all stakeholders. A monthly newsletter will be launched in May. In this newsletter,
relevant information will be shared and we will encourage members to submit articles they would like to share.
Over the next few weeks you will be hearing from us about the dates of the first forum and workshop; and you will
be receiving the first newsletter for 2007. On our side, we will be refining various member support structures, as well
as planning the workshop and forum. Watch this space.........
The success of BIPSA's efforts depends on all of us and we believe that with the more focussed strategic objectives
and member involvement, we will be able to achieve success. We look forward to engaging with you over the remaining
months of 2007 and we also look forward to your participation and contribution to the success of BIPSA.
